Professor Doris Stevenson will compare the recovery of the US economy with the situation in Alameda county. It looks as if California, and Alameda county, are slightly lagging in terms of spending and employment recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels. The pandemic economy continues to be characterized by a very unequal recovery, but the overall picture for US economic growth is bright in 2022. Both vaccine roll-out and fiscal policies on the federal level contribute to strong growth forecasts for the US economy.The American Rescue Plan and planned Infrastructure bill will also be discussed.
